September marks the turn into spring across Melbourne and Victoria, and with it comes the busiest stretch of the building calendar.
As the ground dries out and the weather steadies, footings, framing and wet-area renovations all start moving again — and bathroom and laundry jobs in particular tend to stack up this time of year.
It’s the right moment to stock the ute and get ahead of the run.
To help you kick off the season, we’ve pulled together four hard-working essentials in our September Monthly Specials — covering bracing, wet-area substrate, framing fixings and waterproofing. Whether you’re framing up, fitting out a bathroom, or just topping up consumables, there’s genuine trade value here while stocks last.

1. Hoop Iron 30mm x 0.8mm x 30mtr — $24.50 Inc. GST

What it is:
Punched galvanised steel strapping, 30mm wide and 0.8mm thick, supplied in a handy 30-metre coil. The galvanised coating resists corrosion, while the pre-punched holes let you nail or screw off quickly without pre-drilling. It’s a genuine multi-purpose consumable that earns its place in any builder’s kit.
How to use it:
Roll off the length you need, cut it with tin snips, and fix through the punched holes with clouts, framing nails or screws. It’s most often used as brick ties, bracing straps and tie-downs — wrapped, tensioned and fixed to hold building elements firmly in place. Keep the coil in the ute and cut it on demand.
Where it’s used:
On Melbourne and Victorian residential sites it ties brick veneer back to the timber frame, straps wall and roof bracing, and handles countless tie-down jobs. Pair it with our Framing Nails below to knock out the frame-and-brace stage in one trip. Grab it from the connectors and brackets collection, or request a quote for larger quantities.
2. Fibre Cement Tile Underlay 6.0mm 1800 x 1200 — $22.50 Inc. GST

What it is:
A 6mm fibre cement sheet in a large 1800 x 1200 format, designed as a rigid, moisture-resistant underlay beneath floor tiles. Fibre cement stays dimensionally stable when it gets wet — exactly what you want under tiles in a wet area. It’s flat, tough and ready to waterproof.
How to use it:
Lay the sheets over a sound timber or particleboard subfloor, stagger the joints, and fix off with fibre cement screws or nails at the recommended spacing. Once it’s down and the joints are set, apply your waterproofing membrane and tile straight over the top. A stable base now saves cracked grout later.
Where it’s used:
It’s the go-to substrate for bathroom, laundry and kitchen floors on Melbourne renovations and new builds. Team it with the Siegelproof Pro25 Wetarea Membrane below and you’ve got the underlay-plus-waterproofing combo for a complete wet-area floor prep. Order it through the online shop.
3. Framing Nails Bright 75 x 3.05mm 3000 Qty — $35.00 Inc. GST
What it is:
Bright (uncoated) smooth-shank framing nails, 75mm long by 3.05mm gauge, collated to suit Senco and Paslode framing guns, in a bulk box of 3,000. “Bright” means plain steel with no galvanising — ideal for internal, protected framing work. One box covers a lot of framing.
How to use it:
Load a collated strip into your compatible framing nailer, set your depth, and drive them home into structural timber. The smooth shank suits general framing and fixing where you want speed over ultimate withdrawal resistance. Simple, fast and consistent all day.
Where it’s used:
Timber wall framing, subfloor framing and general structural carpentry across Melbourne and regional Victoria — bright nails are best kept to dry, protected areas rather than exposed exterior work. Adding Hoop Iron to the same order? The two cover framing and bracing together. Pick up a box from the fixings collection, or ask us for a bulk price.
4. Siegelproof Pro25 15L Wetarea Membrane — $175.00 Inc. GST
What it is:
Siegelproof Pro25 is a liquid-applied waterproofing membrane supplied in a 15L pail for wet-area work. It rolls on to form a flexible, seamless waterproof layer over your prepared substrate. One pail goes a long way across a typical bathroom or laundry.
How to use it:
Prepare and prime the substrate, install bond breakers at wall-to-floor junctions and reinforcing at corners and penetrations, then roll or brush on the required number of coats. Let each coat cure as directed before tiling over the top — don’t rush the cure. Always follow the manufacturer’s data sheet and your local wet-area requirements.
Where it’s used:
Bathrooms, showers, laundries and balconies — anywhere that needs proper waterproofing before the tiles go down. It’s the natural partner to the Fibre Cement Tile Underlay above: underlay first, membrane over, then tile. Find it in the sealants and waterproofing collection, or get a quote for a full wet-area package.
